“We MUST do better. We must BE better. As parents. As coaches. As educators. As leaders of the next generation of leaders in our country. As a society."

“As you read this, 60+ percent of our nation’s youth are overweight and obese according to CDC data. They have a better understanding of how to navigate a tablet screen or gaming system than they do of what their body’s are capable of or what foods they should be fueling their body with - THAT’S A HUGE PROBLEM! What’s more, I believe it’s going to continue to rise if we don’t do something drastic about two things: The amount of activity and the food these amazing little humans are eating. As unfortunate as it is, this epidemic will get worse before it gets better, but the time is now to start building the infrastructure these kids and kids after them NEED to elicit those changes in behavior and lifestyle.”

  • It all began with an idea back in 2019 after a friend asked me to work with a group of kids at the elementary school she was working at. I said yes to the opportunity to work with one school, one hour per week, for 16 weeks running a fitness program after school with K-5th graders.

Prior to this I had been working in the health/fitness/nutrition space for the past decade and had owned my own health facility between the years of 2015-2018.

  • After three or four weeks I asked if any other schools in the district we’re running this type of program and she said yes, so I asked for a list and reached out to every single one of them.

We began building our first community partnership with Des Moines Public School District shortly thereafter and that’s since turned into our Flagship program.

Since then we’ve expanded to work with surrounding school districts and have spent countless hundreds of hours working with K-5th grade kids on the Five Pillars of Health for Kids™️

  • Since 2019, we’ve partnered with multiple school districts around the Des Moines Metro and have begun the process of building a strategic regional growth plan.

By 2025, our vision is set on tackling the issue of childhood obesity and inactivity within the surrounding regional states:

Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, South Dakota, North Dakota.

To do this, we’re working diligently on implementing the systems and processes we need to grow and scale Anchor Kids Organization into a multi-state, regional program.

    This is about everything.
